God Wants You to Be Healthy

To be honest, very few of our ancient religious texts mention which food additives, fillers, and colorings to stay away from. In fact, none of them do. They tell you the rules to be kosher or halal. Some Indian traditions mention more specific rules in terms of doshas (i.e. some foods produce too much heat for certain body types). Some Buddhists and Christians eschew meat for religious and ethical reasons. Of course, non-religious people also identify as vegetarian. The Christian Bible has a few lines for not eating too much honey and, of course, it mentions that little sin called gluttony.

Basically, the religious texts of old left eating rules to “Don’t eat too much” (solid advice) and “Don’t eat bugs. They are not kosher” (also solid advice). However, in the last two thousand years food has been changed on a molecular basis by man. Two thousand years ago, no one knew what a molecule was. I’m not saying that God did not know what a molecule was, of course, but it took “us” a while to figure it out.

So, the food changed and our genetics and biology have not really changed in accordance with these times. And no new religious rules have come along to help. So what do we do? I guess we read this book. I mean you are here anyway…
